Impact on poles

DVP- Impact model for roadside barriers

Statements of Novelty:

  1. A viscoplastic soil model for vehicular barrier design
  2. Capture strain softening
  3. Capture strain rate effects
  4. Implementable in LS-DYNA
  5. Provide better alignment with field test results compared to existing soil models

Practical Merits:

  • Input parameters are easy to determine
  • Enable the use of more realistic soil properties in simulations
  • Save time, materials and Labour

Impact on rockfall protection baffles

Steel baffles are used in rockfall trajectories in reducing the speed of rock falling down a mountain. Design of these baffles need to consider conditions of both ground and structural steel stiffness parameters.
